Always-On Portals for Real Human Connection

At Video Window, our mission is simple: to improve human connection.

While our technology transforms collaboration in the workplace, its potential reaches far beyond business. We enable always-on portals that create meaningful, real-time connections between people, places, and cultures.

Introducing Portals: City-to-City Connections in Real Time

Portals is a not-for-profit initiative by the Benediktas Gylys Foundation, powered by Video Window technology to deliver live city-to-city connections across the world.

Each Portal is designed to be fully immersive, featuring a striking circular display and distinctive industrial design that naturally draws people in. More than just a screen, it’s a shared window between cities - enabling spontaneous, unscripted human interaction across borders.

A Growing Global Network of Always-On Portals

The Portals network now connects seven locations worldwide, creating a continuous network of always-on, city-to-city video connections:

  • Barra Grande, Piauí, Brazil 🇧🇷
  • Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪
  • Ipswich, UK 🇬🇧
  • Lublin, Poland 🇵🇱
  • Manila, Philippines 🇵🇭
  • Philadelphia, USA 🇺🇸
  • Vilnius, Lithuania 🇱🇹

Together, these installations form a live, evolving network of public connection - linking people across continents in real time.

Connections rotate every minute, allowing each Portal to connect with multiple cities throughout the day and maximising global reach and interaction.

Beyond City-to-City: From People to Planet

On every odd rotation, the Portal switches from a human connection to a live feed from space - offering a real-time view of Earth from orbit. This alternating experience creates a powerful contrast between:

  • Human Connection (City-to-City)
  • Global Perspective (Earth from Space)

Building the Global Portal Network

We’re working closely with the Portals team to expand this network of always-on portals, bringing real-time connection to more cities, communities, and cultures worldwide.

We are currently looking for:

  • Cities and venues to host new Portals
  • Creative partners to design shared experiences
  • Sponsors to support global, city-to-city connection at scale

If you’re interested in bringing a Portal to your city, we’d love to hear from you. Email us at [email protected]
