Video Window Joins NCAT Innovation Programme to Enhance Accessible Travel

Video Window has been selected as one of 16 innovators to join the National Centre for Accessible Transport’s (NCAT) 2026 Scaling Innovation programme, an initiative focused on improving accessibility across the UK transport network.

Delivered in partnership with Connected Places Catapult, the programme supports organisations developing practical solutions to remove barriers faced by disabled passengers and create more inclusive travel experiences.

Video Window was selected under the “Enhancing Travel Assistance” category for its innovative video assistance kiosk solution, designed to give disabled and vulnerable passengers instant access to real-time support while travelling.

The platform transforms traditional help points into interactive video communication kiosks, allowing passengers to connect face-to-face with trained support operators through live video calls. Unlike standard audio-only intercoms, the system provides a more personal and accessible support experience, helping passengers feel more confident travelling independently.

The technology can assist with a range of accessibility needs, including visual communication support, remote multilingual assistance, and real-time journey guidance. A key part of the solution is that support can also be delivered remotely by disabled operators themselves, creating meaningful employment opportunities while improving the passenger experience.

As part of the programme, Video Window will receive funding and expert support to further develop and test the solution, with the potential to progress to larger-scale trials across the transport network.

The selection highlights the growing importance of accessible, human-centred communication technology in helping create safer and more inclusive journeys for all passengers.
