Brazil Joins Global Connection Network with Launch of Piauí Portal

Brazil has officially joined the global Portals – Bridge to a United Planet network, with the inauguration of a live-streaming technology portal in Barra Grande, in the municipality of Cajueiro da Praia, on the Piauí coastline – the first of its kind in Latin America.

At the heart of the experience is Video Window, the pioneering always-on video conferencing technology that powers the Portal network. Video Window’s software drives the Portal’s immersive, large circular display, enabling a 24/7 live connection between cities and countries — bringing untold benefits to people and communities around the world. As Video Window CEO Daryl Hutchings has stated, the company’s mission is “to remove frustration and improve human connection”, and powering the Portals network is a natural expression of that vision.

The portal was inaugurated by Governor Rafael Fonteles and is installed at the Parque Público Reserva do Portal, a purpose-built public space featuring visitor amenities, beach access, and monitoring facilities.

State tourism authorities expect the new attraction to increase visitor numbers and extend tourist stays in the region, boosting the local economy in the years ahead.

The Portals network invites people to connect above language barriers using the one universal language — body language — offering a purely visual, unfiltered window into other cultures around the world.
