Always-On Video

Always-on video is a model of workplace connectivity where a live visual link between locations remains constantly active throughout the workday. Unlike traditional video conferencing, which requires someone to initiate a call, send a link, or wait in a virtual lobby, always-on video treats different office locations or remote setups as extensions of the same physical environment. The idea is that there is no friction, no logging in, no dropped connections, no scheduling or waiting around.

Video Window was designed specifically for common areas rather than traditional conference rooms, with the goal of removing physical boundaries and making teams feel as though they are looking through a “magic window” to other locations. The result is that spontaneous interactions, the kind that happen naturally when people share a building , become possible across distances. Remote workers can decide when they want to be visible to colleagues, and are only a tap away when someone needs them. This balance between ambient presence and personal control means the connection feels natural rather than intrusive, and teams stay genuinely in sync without the overhead of coordinating calls.

The practical applications span a wide range of hybrid work environments. A company with offices in two cities can keep their kitchen or breakout areas continuously linked, so staff grabbing a coffee can wave to counterparts doing the same across the country. Portrait mode is particularly suited to communal areas and the informal “water cooler” conversations that hybrid workplaces need to foster. For remote employees, Video Window brings that same ambient connection to the home office, giving remote workers the opportunity to feel present and connected with the office and with remote coworkers throughout the day, rather than only during structured meetings. Multi-site companies, distributed teams, and organisations managing remote staff across time zones all benefit from a connection that is simply always there.
